Nowadays children are more disconnected to where their food comes from. They are consuming more processed foods then fresh fruits and vegetables. Nearly 1 in 3 children in the US are overweight or obese. Despite the knowledge that increades comsumption of fruits and vegetables has been associated with a life-long healthy weight.
That is why The Farm Explorer is designed. It’s a living, hands-on mobile farm providing children with the opportunity to dig-in and connect with food from seed to plate. The Farm Explorer is equipped with modular garden beds, Farm Explorer highlights over 60 varieties of herbs, vegetables, fruits and edible flowers throughout the growing season. With The Farm Explorer the designers want to connect children more with healthy food, where it comes from and how it’s grown.
Do you think this is a good idea to make children more aware of healthy food? Leanr more about The Farm Explorer, or sponsor them:
When you have been traveling through Asia, you are probably familiar with people eating insects. You maybe even tried one yourself. In Europe and America it’s not common to eat insects, and that is something that has to change. That is why ‘The Grashopper Suppliers’ try to raise money on https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1767393205/the-grasshopper-suppliers?ref=nav_search , so they can bring grashoppers to Europe!
Why should we eat insects? First of all our main sources of protein are very inefficient to produce. When you want to produce 1kg of beef, you could produce 10kg grashoppers. In this world there are 1 billion people hungry, so eating insects is a very good solution for that.
Besides that more people (1,2+ billion) lack access to drinking water. Last year we produced 300 billion kg of beef. If we had produced grasshoppers instead of this quantity of beef we would have saved 3,6 million billion litres of water. This amount of water is enough to give the whole world 2 litres of water a day for 700 years!! Besides these benefits of producing insects instead of beef, grasshoppers taste really good. I tried one in Bangkok myself and I was postive surprised. They do taste good!
(me eating a scorpio in Bangkok, I tried a grasshopper as well but I didn’t made a picture of it. Must say: grasshoppers taste better than scorpios)

Since one year I try to be very aware of my body and how I need to treat it. This quote made me realize that. When you’re not healthy, there is no place you can live comfortable. You have to live in your own body, if you want it or not, so please treat it good. Eat healthy food, do exercises, sleep enough and be aware of what you do with your body.
I hope this quote makes you think about your body and how you should treat it.
Would you like to shop in a supermarket that is completely transparant? Whole Food Market is trying to be completely transparant in 2018. It would be the first 100% transparant supermarket.
At the moment Whole Foods Market is a supermarket that only sells ‘natural’ products. It’s free of stuff like sweeteners and it is minimally processed. Whole Foods Market is a chain. You can find this supermarket in the USA, Canada and the UK.
Nowadays transparancy is important. Whole Foods Market already labels their own stuff, but they are trying to label the whole store. In this way you will know everything about every product in the store, so the store will be completely transparant.
While I was living in Bangkok and traveling through Thailand and India I noticed that they have such a different way of eating. First of all in most European countries we all order our own dish that we like and eat it all by ourselves. We don’t share. Sometimes we grab a bite from our friend, but we actually never share our dishes. In Thailand and India I discovered that people eating together share all their food. Nobody orders their own food, but they all deside together what food they want on the table. Before the food will be served, the waiter brings everybody an empty plate. All the food will be served in bowls and plates in the middle of the table. Then everybody just takes whatever they like. Nobody tells anybody ‘bon appetit’, but just starts eating.
Sometimes when I went to a ‘non-Thai’ restaurant, you order your own food. But what really irritated me, is that they bring your food whenever it is ready. So when you are going out for dinner with 4 persons, the one who gets their food first can wait till the last person gets their food, but then it’s probably cold. So you just start eating, but then you’re already done before the last person gets their food.
Besides that in the time I’ve been living in Bangkok (almost 6 months) I didn’t cook once for myself. I didn’t even have a real kitchen in my appartment. It is so normal to go out for dinner. There are a lot of food stands everywhere on the street where you can buy the most delicous foods that you cannot even make yourself. And it is so cheap, that when you choose to cook for yourself, it would be more expensive then going out for dinner. But when you choose to cook, you don’t even need to go to the supermarket, you can buy all your ingredients on the street.
In the beginning I really had to get used to that, but now I absolutely love it. The food in Thailand is amazing, it’s cheap and fresh. And I just love going out for dinner and don’t have any dishes to clean.
For a lot of people the perfect vacation is: beach, sea, cocktails and doing absolutely nothing. But nowadays people on holiday are increasingly looking for things to do that allow them to exercise.
Fitness travel is a trend that’s sweeping the globe and it’s hotting up on Australian shores. One of the main reasons is that general health messages are getting through the people. So for a lot of people their holiday is a way to put some healthy living together.
Jayson Westbury, chief executive of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents says: ‘service providers are catching onto the trend with new businesses springing up to offer a variety of health and fitness holiday options.
Samantha Lippiat is the Australian head of Health and Fitness Travel and she says ‘’ People are nowadays juggling everything on our platers. When they go on holiday they want to maximise that time, and they want to come back feeling better.’’ In the short-term this trend is about multi-tasking, and in the long-term it’s about taking responsibility.
People are becoming more responsible for their own long term health. They want a better quality of life, even on their holidays the choose to have a healthy lifestyle.
So, how do we exercise while traveling? A lot of people choose tours by bicycle. They are seeking the grassroots experience of travel, alongside the adventure. Nowadays diving and snorkling is a popular way to get exercise during your holiday, or surfing and kayaking.

Every day we have to drink at least 1,5 liters of water. Almost 80% of the world population drinks less then that. That is why Vittel designed a new bottle. This bottle remindes you to drink every hour. How? The bottle has a cap with a little alarm in it. When you put the cap on the bottle, the alarm will start ticking. After an hour a red flag will jump out of it so you will know it is time to drink again.
